Standard Bird Cage Awl
Now with 1/4" A2 Tool Steel Blade!
Czeck Edge Standard Bird Cage Awls feature large, palm friendly knobs with a lower finger perch that allows a tremendous amount of force to be applied comfortably for boring or marking in wood. The square cross section of the blade, sharpened edges and shallow 10 degree pyramid point allow them to sever delicate wood fibers without splitting thin stock. The blade follow the traditional design in essence, being a bit larger at 1/4 wide. They are made of A2 tool steel hardened to RC 59 - 60 in an aircraft certified facility and precision ground and polished.
Turned from exotic cocobolo, the knob is 1 3/8" wide and 3 1/4" long with a 5/8" satin polished bronze ferrule. The shaft is 3 1/2" long, the overall length of the Standard model Bird Cage cage awl is 7".
